چکیده

Fuzzy theory is suitable to capture and analyze the informal requirements that are imprecise in nature, meanwhile, XML is emerging as one of the dominant data formats for data processing on the internet. In this paper, we have developed a fuzzy object-oriented modeling technique (FOOM) schema based on XML to model requirements specifications and incorporated the notion of stereotype to facilitate the modeling of imprecise requirements. FOOM schema is also transformed into a set of application programming interfaces (APIs) in an automatic manner. A schema graph is proposed to serve as an intermediate representation for the structure of FOOM schema to bridge the FOOM schema and APIs for both content validation and data access for the XML documents. q 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. Modeling, Querying, and Mining Uncertain XML Data

This chapter deals with data mining in uncertain XML data models, this uncertainty typically coming from imprecise automatic processes. We first review the literature on modeling uncertain data, starting with well-studied relational models and moving then to their semistructured counterparts. We focus on a specific probabilistic XML model, that allows representing arbitrary finite distributions...

Towards Conceptual Modeling for XML

Today, XML is primarily regarded as a syntax for exchanging structured data, and therefore the question of how to develop well-designed XML models has not been studied extensively. As applications are increasingly penetrated by XML technologies, and because query and programming languages provide native XML support, it would be beneficial to use these features to work with well-designed XML mod...

Conceptual Modeling for XML: A Survey

Recently XML is the standard format used for the exchange of data between information systems and is also frequently applied as a logical database model. If we use XML as a logical database model we need a conceptual model for the description of its semantics. However, XML as a logical database model has some special characteristics which makes existing conceptual models as E-R or UML unsuitabl...

Formal analysis of imprecise system requirements with Event-B

Formal analysis of functional properties of system requirements needs precise descriptions. However, the stakeholders sometimes describe the system with ambiguous, vague or fuzzy terms, hence formal frameworks for modeling and verifying such requirements are desirable. The Fuzzy If-Then rules have been used for imprecise requirements representation, but verifying their functional properties sti...

XML-Based Method and Tool for Handling Variant Requirements in Domain Models

A domain model describes common and variant requirements for a system family. UML notations used in requirements analysis and software modeling can be extended with “variation points” to cater for variant requirements. However, UML models for a large single system are already complicated enough. With variants UML domain models soon become too complicated to be useful. The main reasons are the e...
